Filming dates

29th January - Martelle, Dom and Alex filmed the classroom shots. Timing was a slight issue as we only had the hour to film and set up, however the majority of shots managed to be filmed.

11th february - All four of us met at 10 o clock with the aim to film the majority of the shots in the house. The shoot was successful, but a few were unable to be taken as we needed to use a different house for some in order to cater for the props. Dom took the camera home to take these.

Witht the majority of shots completed, the following week we all took it in turns to go into the editing suite. We uploaded the shots we had done and placed them in order to get an idea of how it was coming together before taking the remaining shots. This also meant we could use our time more effectively by making a start with the editing process whilst continuing filming.

5th March - During our lesson we reshot a few of the class scenes. We then spent the rest of the day taking additional shots in the hosue. When editing we also found we needed to add shots in which would create a narrative for the female character in the film. Again Dom took the camera home to do these.

Black Swan Film Poster analysis

The black swan is suggesting that the film is instantly a dark film. This is because
It invites the alternate dark version from the usual white swan. A black swan is also very rare this is adding an element of mystery and surprise creating the thriller part of the film. The psychological element is created from the main image of the poster as it involves an unstable emotional state of the main character combined with the mystery element this creates a sub genre of a psychological thriller. The stars of the film are Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel and Mila kunis. The name that appears first is Natalie Portman evidently she is the only image of a character on the film poster this gives the indication that she is the main star of the film and the other two are the supporting actors. She is positioned as covering the whole of the film poster wearing a tiara and presented looking like a swan. She seems to have red eyes showing that she is sad.  The background of the image is very bright. This brightness represents the blinding power of the spotlight and the overwhelming nature of being the star. The credits on the film poster mention accolades from a film festival indicating that the film is looking for awards. The pleasure being offered to the audience is a film that is highly regarded by critics evident to it nominee from film festival presenting the factor that the film is already successful which invites the audience to share some of the success. From the factor that the main character is a women round the age of 20-30 and is dressed with a tiara the film appears to be predominantly female and is looking towards the target age from 20-30 years of age.  The unique selling point from the film is the advertisement of the main star Natalie Portman she is a well known actress and presenting her on the cover would promote the selling of the film.

Fourth draft design for film poster and analysis

The film posters title of “Repression” suggests that someone has a repressed memory and is emphasizing the psychological element to the film. The main image is multi layered as it shows a man sitting down looking depressed, infornt of the number 11.57. This raises the question is he number the memory that the man is repressing. The poster suggests that it is a psychological thriller .Which is firstly suggested through the title of the film and is secondly suggested through the emotional state of the main character. The film star is expressed in the main image. Dominic Williams is presented in the centre of the film poster. His facial expression indicates to the audience to have sympathy towards him. The film producers and directors names are Alex tipping and Steven Rogers. However they are not well known. Form this film poster the audience are being treated to a serious film which is evident towards the expression of the main character Dominic Williams. The target audience for the film appears to be mixed gender. This is by having masculine colours and showing the main character emotional state. The USP for the film poster is emphasizing the emotional state of the main character. This is unique it is usually a female who you relate to be in an emotional state.

Third draft design for film poster and Analysis

The films title of repression suggests that someone is repressing a memory. This indicates the physiological nature of the film. The main image fore the film poster is multi layered. It is showing the main character emotional with tears running down his face. There is also the number 11; 58 imprinted on the bottom of his brain. There is also a man looking very suspicious creating the sense of enigma and mystery. This poster employs the iconography of a physiological thriller through the emotional state of the main character as we can see tears in his eyes and the mystery and suspense of the man behind the image of the main character. The film stars appear to be Dominic Williams and John walker. Dominic Williams name is centred at the top of the film poster indicating he is the main star. His character of David Jones is looking very emotional. John Walker is positioned behind the image Dominic Williams this is indicating that he is more of a supporting actor within the film. The movies tagline is “Lost time is never Found”. This is referencing to the time of 11.57 imprinted on the image of the character David Jones.  The films target audience from the film poster is 18-30 and mixed gender. This is shown in the audience being able to relate to the characters, especially the main character. Billing Block codes and conventions

Looking at these two billing blocks it has given me a good idea of what I would like mine to look like, I am going to incorporate parts of each billing block and merge them into my own. The billing block will match with my colour scheme of red and white along with a black background.  My next step will be to write down my names for each department within the billing block. The billing blocks each show the text larger for the name of the person and smaller text for which department they are designed too. Each letter within the billing block is also a capital letter.

second draft and improvments needed

There is no real colour on the two film posters. There is also no billboard on the film posters. This means I will have to analyse and produce a billboard. The title is also still not standing out, as most film posters make there titles stand out from the rest of the film poster.

First draft of poster and improvements needed

What I like most about this film poster is the emotion of the main character which brings out the physiological trail of the main character. Towards this being a first draft there are improvements that are needed. This begins with feed back that people have told me about my poster. People suggest that my title is too low and it doesn’t stand out as it is very important the audience need to be able to identify the title of the film poster. There is also no slogan on the film poster and the date is not matching the date of my group release date. There is no real colour scheme to create the mood of the poster. The main image has also been critically analysed as it seems to be too big and it confuses the audience towards the fact they are unable to tell the target audience and the genre of the film which is supposed to be a physiological thriller.
